Another pair of stay cables is being prepared for the installation
This year the first shift team is already working on the M12 Moscow – Nizhny Novgorod – Kazan Highway. At all construction stages the work on the road furnishing, roadbed construction, erection of artificial structures, as well as other work that can be completed at low temperatures has been carried out since 3 January.
The works at the outsized cable-stayed bridge over the Oka River that would connect the banks of the Vladimir Region and Nizhny Novgorod Region did not stop even on New Year’s Day. Right now, despite the frosts of 30 degrees below zero, another pair of stay cables are being prepared for the installation – 12 and 34 pairs of stay cables have been installed in total. Stay cables have been mounted to half the length of the bridge left half-span (cantilever) over the river and to a quarter of the length of the right half-span.
Besides, at stage 4 of M-12 Highway construction project, the road workers fill the foundation for the multifunctional zones (MFZ), construct the subgrade for the pavement, lay cable ducts, install mesh fences, reinforce the slopes. At the moment, 640 people and 150 units of equipment are involved in the construction.
According to the plan, car drivers will be able to get from Moscow to Arzamas by M12 Highway as early as September 2023.
