An asphalt manufacturing plant has been launched to produce asphalt
The builders of Bamtonnelstroy-Most Group have begun laying asphalt on the access roads to the new Zeya Bridge. The work is being carried out without the engagement of contractors. In total, the builders will have to lay 400,000 square meters of different layers of asphalt concrete surface. Cutting-edge technologies and modern materials are used for asphalt laying.
“The design documentation for the bridge was prepared in 2014. From then up until the beginning of construction in 2020, the legal framework for highway design and construction has changed a lot. That is why it has been decided to construct the road pavement that meets the current regulatory requirements, according to which the time interval between the repair works has increased from 12 to 24 years. As a result, the thickness of the asphalt concrete surface has changed from 18 to 24 cm. The taken decision and calculations have been approved by the conclusion of Glavgosexpertiza of Russia. In order to complete the task, a new asphalt plant has been acquired. It can manufacture mixtures of the particular parameters specified in the new requirements, as well as asphalt paving equipment,” Deputy Head of the Zeya Branch Office for Road Construction of Bamtonnelstroy-Most JSC Oleg Volkov said.
The capacity of the new asphalt plant built on the left bank of the Zeya River reaches 200 tons per hour. The most important component of asphalt concrete mixture is bitumen. Since the nearest Angarsk refinery is 2,650 kilometers far from the construction site, a bitumen melting plant has been acquired and the entire volume of bitumen needed for the whole construction has been purchased to ensure timely production of asphalt concrete mixture.
The new Zeya Bridge is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the Amur Region in recent decades. Its total length is 10.3 km, of which 1.9 km is actual bridge part. The bridge has an optimally designed extradosed structure based on 26 piers with a cable-stayed system.
