They will have to paint 210,000 square meters of surface
Bamtonnelstroy-Most Group builders have proceeded to one of the most time-consuming and responsible construction stages – painting the metal structures of the new Zeya Bridge. The paint works began on the left-bank section of the superstructure.
“Once the paint works are completed, there will be a snow-white bridge with light gray piers. It is not only about bridge aesthetics, but more about bridge protection from corrosion and weather exposure. Besides that, the white color helps to lower the temperature of the metal thus reducing thermal deformations,” Project Manager and Chief of Zeya Branch Office of Bamtonnelstroy-Most JSC Eduard Davydov said.
Specialists will have to paint in three layers 140,000 square meters of metal structures and 70,000 square meters of reinforced concrete structures.
The new Zeya Bridge is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the Amur Region in recent decades. Its total length is 10.3 km, of which 1.9 km is actual bridge part. The bridge has an optimally designed extradosed structure based on 26 piers with a cable-stayed system. Car traffic on the bridge will be arranged in one lane in each direction.
