SK MOST Group of Companies construction teams have completed civil work and installation operations at the Boiler House for Zagorsk Hydroelectric Pumped Storage Power Plant-2.
The new Boiler House capacity is 10 MW. The facility is equipped with 4 boilers (2.5-MW each) and is one of the most powerful boiler projects firing petroleum gas in the country. The architectural part of the Boiler House design, featuring an arch-type roof, has won the top award at the Russian National Competition “Thermal Project-2008.” Shakedown/startup operations are now underway on the Boiler House construction site.
The Boiler House will heat the rotation camp for construction personnel working on the Zagorsk Hydroelectric Pumped Storage Power Plant-2 site as well as the office and production buildings of Construction Base No. 2 at the town of Bogorodskoe, Sergyiev Posad District in Moscow Region where the support facilities and the hydroelectric plant constriction head office are located. The use of power generated by the Boiler House for winter concrete placement in the pressure water conduits of Zagorsk Hydroelectric Pumped Storage Power Plant-2 is under consideration.
The Boiler House is the third facility at Zagorsk Hydroelectric Pumped Storage Power Plant-2 that has been built by divisions of the SK MOST Group of Companies. In 2007-2008 they completed a dam section for the upstream storage reservoir of the power plant; the water intake bottom retaining walls; and the workshops and rotation camp of Construction Base No. 2 as well as power plant approach roads.
Zagorsk Hydroelectric Pumped Storage Power Plant-2 is scheduled for commissioning in 2014. This will be the second large pumped storage power plant in Russia. The power plant design capacity will be 840 MW.
