Builders of the Bridge to the Russky Island Met Their French Partners

The representatives of the companies participating in construction of the bridge over the Eastern Bosphorus Strait in Vladivostok made a working visit to the Paris headquarters of Freyssinet, a French company, which is the world leader in stay cable system manufacture and installation, in December 2010.

Freyssinet will fabricate and deliver to Vladivostok stay cables ordered by the General Contractor, OJSC USK MOST, for installation on the bridge over the Eastern Bosphorus Strait under supervision of French field service specialists. A total of 168 stay cables, each 135 to 580-meters long, will support the bridge span.

The Russian party was represented by Mr. A.M. Afanasiev, Director, Federal Institution Directorate of the Federal Road Agency for Construction of Road Facilities in Vladivostok; Mr. A.M. Chabunin, Head of the Federal Road Agency; Mr. B.I. Kondrat, General Director, USK MOST; N.V. Rogov, General Director, OJSC USK MOST; and engineers.

The stay cables that have been custom engineered by the French company for the bridge to the Russky Island were presented to the Russian specialists at the Paris office.

The program of the five-day working visit included a visit to a Freyssinet facility that specializes in manufacture of anchors, collets and custom-made equipment and also a trip to the DYKA Plastics Plant in Belgium where stay cable sheathing is fabricated.
