At the InterTunnel 2011, the SK MOST Group of Companies Presents a Tunnel Project to be Built under the Lena River in Yakutsk

A design case for construction of a combined motorway and railway tunnel under the Lena River was developed by the OJSC USK MOST. The design suggests building a tunnel 8,347-meters long on the site between Nizhny Bestyakh and Yakutsk. Compared to the alternative tunnel design on Tabaga site, the USK MOST design provides for construction of 11 kilometers of the railway tracks instead of 114 kilometers, which will reduce the cost and expedite project implementation.

The IV Transport Congress with participation of specialists from Russian and foreign construction companies was held within the framework of the business program of the InterTunnel 2011 International Exhibition, which took place in Moscow from March 16th to 18th. B.I. Kondrat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the OJSC USK MOST was among the presenters. He addressed the Congress with a report “Experience of International Cooperation and Innovative Developments (using as an example construction of the bridge over the Eastern Bosphorus Strait in Vladivostok).”

The InterTunnel is a specialized international exhibition that demonstrates the most recent developments in the field of equipment, technologies, and services for tunnel design, construction, and operation. Companies from Russia, Germany, Spain, Austria and other countries take part in this exhibition. The event is held with the backing of the Ministry of Transportation of the Russian Federation, Government of Moscow, Russian Tunnel Association, and International Academy of Transport.
