Vladivostok Cable-Stayed Bridges are now in the second round of the “Russia 10” multimedia contest. The project organized by “Russia 1” TV channel and Russian Geographic Society is aimed at finding top ten new visual symbols of Russia. The finalists of the contest will be determined through a nationwide poll.

Over 700 projects – the most outstanding natural sanctuaries, architectural and cultural heritage artifacts of the country – were elected in a number of preliminary polls. Each subject of the Federation submitted to the contest everything that is the best and worthy of interest.

The majority of Primorie residents voted for the bridges over the Eastern Bosphorus Strait and Zolotoy Rog Bay in the first regional round of polling. These cable-stayed giants became leaders of the rating in the entire Far East in a company with the famous Tyatya Volcano (Shikotan Island), which is comparable with Vesuvius and Fuji volcanoes, and with the world-renowned Valley of Geysers (Kamchatka). The new symbols of the capital of Primorie are among the top ten largest facilities of the kind in the world, and the Russky Bridge is the world largest cable-stayed bridge.

One of the most important goals of the project is to promote the image of Russia as a unique country with a rich cultural and natural heritage. The entire country is proud of each symbol that entered the second round of the contest: Kolomna Kremlin, Mamaev Kurgan and the “Motherland Calls” Sculpture, the Bogoroditsky Palace-Museum and Park “Legend”, the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, the Lake Baikal, Astrakhan Kremlin, Rostov Kremlin, Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, Tobolsk Kremlin, Pskov Kremlin, Peterhof, the Solovetsky Archipelago, the Elbrus, Stolby Nature Reserve, the Pechersky Monastery, the Voiskovoy Ascension Cathedral, the Smolensky Cathedral of the Assumption, Kargopol, Midagrabinskie Waterfalls, Kul Sharif mosque, the tower of the Holy Trinity Monastery …

However, Vladivostok cable-stayed bridges are special. Among the unique historical and architectural monuments, masterpieces of architecture and amazing creations of nature, they are the unique modern engineering structures, which are among the 50 contest leaders among all the objects of the national pride. The record-breaking Russky Bridge, which was built by OJSC USK MOST, has already been recognized as the most significant project in the country in the year 2012 and is rightfully regarded as one the symbols of Russia.
