Track installation in the new Obluchensky Tunnel has been completed in the Far East. The tunnel railway tracks and the access track are now in place. The tunnel entries are also completed. Operations are now conducted to install the contact network and automatic control, communications and signaling systems.
Construction of the new Obluchensky Tunnel, which is 860 meters long, in the Obluchie – Izvestkovaya section of the Trans-Siberian Railway began in the fall of 2011. The tunneling was carried out by drilling and blasting. The tunnel is scheduled for service in October 2013.
