The span of the bridge over the Amur river that connected the Russian and Chinese banks was closed.

On may 31, 2019, near the cities of Blagoveshchensk (Amur region of the Russian Federation) and Heihe (China), Russian builders of the SK Most Group of companies, together with Chinese bridge builders, symbolically screwed the last bolts on both sides of the international road bridge over the Amur river (Heilongjiang), thereby connecting the Russian and Chinese banks of the Amur. This is the first road bridge connecting the Russian Federation and the Republic of China.

On the closure of the “friendship Crossing” was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister – Plenipotentiary representative of Russsian Federation President in far Eastern Federal district Yuri Trutnev, Minister of development of the Far East and the Arctic Alexander Kozlov, the Governor of the Amur region Vasily Orlov, and representatives from the China Republic.
The bridge Blagoveshchensk – Heihe designed as extraduty bridge. Visually, it is similar to cable-stayed, but with low pylons, but it looks no less spectacular. Its design allows you to reduce the number of steel elements and facilitate the bridge span. The project provides for one lane of traffic in each direction on the roadway of the bridge.

Construction of the bridge began in December 2016 and was carried out simultaneously on both sides – Russian and Chinese.
The length of the Russian part, as well as the Chinese part, is 540 meters, which is exactly half the total length of the bridge over the Amur river. The complex of works on the Russian side also includes the construction of approaches to the bridge. The total length of the Russian part together with the approaches is 13.9 km. The Chinese part of the bridge is much smaller and together with the approaches is 6.5 km.

In addition to the main bridge over the Amur river, the project also includes a bridge over the Kanikurganskaya Bayou, 278 meters long, whose construction is at the final stage.
The well-coordinated work of specialists of the SK Most group, despite the problems with Geology and hydrology detected during construction, as well as the flood on the Amur river, made it possible to ensure the connection of the Russian and Chinese parts of the bridge in strict accordance with its design position in a short time.
At the next stage of construction of the bridge crossing, work will be performed on installing strands and tensioning shrouds, lowering the superstructure on the supporting parts and concreting the roadway plate of the bridge.

Work is going on around the clock, strictly on schedule. On the Russian side, they involve more than 500 people.
Construction is being carried out under a concession agreement between the two countries and should be completed at the end of 2019.
For working traffic on the two lanes of the highway, the bridge will open in 2020, when border checkpoints will be put into operation.
