The giant tunneling complex Herrenknecht EPB-10690 completed its work precisely and on time.

On July 16, 2019, at 11 o’clock Moscow time, the tunnel was disrupted on the stretch from the Stakhanovskaya metro station under construction with an exit to the pit of the Nizhegorodskaya metro station, which will become part of the largest transport interchange hub under construction in the capital (Ryazanskoe TPU).

“Nizhegorodskaya” – is a small-scale station with two island platforms, between which the tracks of the Nekrasovskaya line of the Moscow metro are laid, and on the sides of the platforms – the Bolshaya Koltsevaya line.
The station will be designed in the style of the well-known LEGO constructor. It will be decorated with elements of various colors that can be formed into simple shapes.

During construction, “top-down” technology was used, when the underground part is built from top to bottom from the ground level with the possibility of parallel construction of structures up. This allows you to reduce the time, cost and area of work.
Tunneling works were carried out using a unique tunnel-passing mechanized complex “Herrenknecht EPB-10690” (S-517) “Victoria”.
The total length of the tunnel is 1,394 meters. The work was carried out around the clock, with a break only for the replacement of cutting tools in may.

Outer diameter of the tunnel: 10.3 m, inner diameter: 9.4 m. The built tunnel is double-track, which means a significant reduction in construction time, since 2 tracks for trains pass through one tunnel at once.

Tunnelers have achieved excellent results in terms of speed of penetration. At certain times, the maximum speed of the TBM reached more than 450 meters per month!
The excavation was carried out in the conditions of dense urban development in the immediate vicinity of Ryazan Avenue, near buildings and structures and engineering communications.
The solemn event was attended by the mayor of Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin, Deputy mayor of the capital for urban planning and construction Marat Khusnullin, tunnel builders and the management of contractors, including the SK Most Group of companies.
Sinking started in February 2019 and took less than 6 months.
