On April 21, 2020, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic visited the construction site of the railway viaduct, the construction contractor of which is JSC STROY-TREST, part of the SK Most Group of Companies.
“Construction work on the viaduct of “Cortanovci” constitute the largest railway construction site in Europe”,
– said Aleksandar Vucic.
After visiting the construction site, the Serbian President called the viaduct “the most beautiful” and expressed great gratitude to the workers for their high professionalism and continuous work, despite the current situation.
“We are building a future here that will be recorded in history”,
he emphasized.
The viaduct at km 59+159.40 is a section of the Stara Pazova – Novi Sad railway that will become part of the Belgrade-Budapest main line. It is designed at the exit of the “Chortanovci” tunnel in front of the settlement of Sremski Karlovci and is located near the right Bank of the Danube within the floodplain.
The estimated speed of trains on the Stara Pazova-Novi Sad section will be up to 200 km / h, which will allow you to cover the distance between localities in just 25 minutes. Serbian authorities plan to launch high-speed trains in this direction by October next year.
The total length of the viaduct, which is being built by STROY-TREST JSC, will be about three kilometers. it includes six different structures separated by three anchor supports, the distance between them is 600 meters. The height of the pillars reaches 24 meters, which is equivalent to the height of a seven-story building. To protect the bridge crossing from landslides, 20 special structures are created that guarantee the stability of the bridge structure.
