The Ministry of construction and housing has issued a permit for the commissioning of a border bridge over the Amur river (Heilongjiang) in the area of Blagoveshchensk (Russia) – Heihe (China), the Ministry of regional Development reports.
JSC “USK MOST”, part of SK Most Group of companies, performed the construction of the first road bridge between Russia and China as a General contractor from the Russian side. The company’s specialists built the Russian half of the bridge over the Amur river, the bridge over the Kanikurganskaya Bayou and the connecting road between them.
“I want to say a huge thank you to our builders! For those people who have been building this large-scale object around the clock, both in summer and winter, for 3 years! To be honest, when we started this construction in 2016, few people believed that we would be able to complete it. After all, the need for a bridge has been discussed for two decades, but the work has not started. But three years have passed and today Russia and China are connected by a road bridge for the first time,”
– commented Alexander Kozlov, Russia’s Minister for the development of the Far East and the Arctic.
Construction of the bridge began in late 2016. Its length is 1080 meters. Each of the sides (Russian and Chinese) built a half – 540 meters each. Parts were built synchronously from both banks, their docking occurred on may 31, 2019. After that, work on both sides was still ongoing; construction of the main stages of the bridge was completed in December 2019.
The total length of the bridge crossing is almost 20 kilometers, and in addition to the main crossing, it includes 6 kilometers of road in China and 13 kilometers of access roads in Russia, of which 278 meters is the bridge over the Kanikurganskaya river.
