The Governor of the Amur Region Vasily Orlov held a meeting on the construction of a bridge across the Zeya.

Eduard Davydov, the project supervisor, the head of the USK MOST JSC branch office, reported on the current situation. According to him, on June 21, the workers started to take flood prevention measures at the facility. Since June 23, the work has been carried out only on the right bank. The rotating shift work has been reduced. From July 7, work on the bridge part of the facility was resumed. To date, the approach roads on the left bank remain flooded, there is still a high level of groundwater, which prevents the builders from starting further work on the construction of the embankment on the left bank.

“Now, we are returning to the previous pace. A new shift team of 800 people gets to work at the facility. 155 machines and mechanisms are also involved. Work in water is underway. The barges are installed in the place of support No. 8 (pit sheet piling driving) and support No. 9 (installation of bored piles). Also, over the past week, the third stage of launching of the left-bank part of the superstructure has been completed by 84 meters,” said Eduard Davydov.

It was noted that the flood had an impact on meeting of the work schedule deadlines, however, experts are looking for ways out of this situation.

“We are aware of the magnitude of the last flood, therefore, it is understandable that it has also influenced the construction of such an important infrastructure facility as the new bridge across the Zeya. As soon as the specialists complete the estimeates, I ask to report to me what is the extent of the delay caused by the flooding. Nevertheless, we do not doubt the competence of the builders and are sure that they will make every effort to catch up with the intended schedule,” said the Governor of the Amur Region Vasily Orlov.
