The launched structure weighs 4,842 tons
Specialists of Bamtonnelstroy-Most Group of Companies have finished launching the superstructure of the left-bank part of the new Zeya Bridge. The last eighth stage lasted two days, it was 86 meters long. The 1,301-meter-long superstructure weighing 4,842 tons was installed onto the 11th pier of the bridge under construction.
“We have completed the last stage of the left-bank superstructure launching, now we are about to start dismantling temporary structures and lowering it onto bearings. At the same time, we keep on working on the right bank, we have completed another stage of superstructure launching over the river, we plan to connect both parts of the bridge at the 11th pier by the end of the summer,” Project Manager and Head of Zeya Branch Office of Bamtonnelstroy-Most JSC Eduard Davydov said.
The first stage of the left-bank part’s superstructure launching began in April 2021, in 14 months the superstructure was installed onto sixteen piers (from 26 to 11), in total, 8 stages were completed on this side.
To construct the new Zeya Bridge builders apply the longitudinal launching method using the hydraulic equipment. The span structures are assembled on a building berth and then launched one by one by jacks onto the ready-made piers using the sliding devices.
Car traffic on the bridge will be arranged in one lane in each direction. According to preliminary estimates, the implementation of the projects will decrease the traffic load on the existing bridge by 40-60%, which will allow the residents of the Amur Region to cover the distance between the city and the federal highway more conveniently.
