Governor of the Kaliningrad Region Anton Alikhanov and the Head of the Kaliningrad City District Administration Elena Dyatlova have checked out the construction of motorway and railway bridges across the Pregolya River. General Director of Mostotrest LLC (a member of Bamtonnelstroy-Most Group of Companies) Evgeny Nadtochy reported on the main parameters and stages of bridge construction.
“At the moment, preparatory work is underway to start works at 2 more bridge supports in the riverbed. So, from September the work will be carried out at all 8 supports of the motorway bridge and at 4 supports of the railway bridge,” Evgeny Nadtochy said.
The foundation for the supports in the riverbed is being built at construction sites. At the moment, boreholes are being drilled for the installation of bored piles for the support No. 5 of the motorway bridge and the support No. 2 of the railway bridge. To execute these works, builders use special mobile platforms with drilling rigs on them. Besides that, jet grouting and bored pile installation are being carried out at the retaining wall of the railway bridge on the right bank of the Pregolya River, and the body of the support No. 3 of the motorway bridge is being filled with concrete.
The 386.7-m-long motorway bridge consists of eight supports and three continuous superstructures. It has a navigable central span that is designed as a single vertically-lifting all-metal superstructure, providing a bridge clearance 50 meters wide and 28 meters high in the raised position.
The 237.3-m-long railway bridge consists of four supports and three superstructures. The bridge has also a navigable central span with a vertical lift mechanism. The bridge clearance is similar to the one of the motorway bridge.
