193 fractures on cable sheathings have been eliminated
Specialists of Bamtonnelstroy-Most Group of Companies have completed the repairs of the stay-cable system on the bridge to Russky Island in Vladivostok damaged by a freezing rain in November 2020. Fractures on the cable sheathings protecting strands (metal cables) were detected during the inspection of the bridge crossing after the rainfall.
“The repairs of the stay-cable system involved elimination of fractures by removing the deformed sections and subsequent welding of joined sheathings. Once the work is completed, we can say for certain that the stay-cable system is protected, the consequences of the freezing rain have been eliminated,” Chief of Branch Office of Bamtonnelstroy-Most JSC in Vladivostok Dmitry Turkin said.
While working, the builders have eliminated 193 fractures. The reconstruction was carried out using both car hydraulic lifts (crane truck) and assistance of industrial сlimbing specialists.
In November 2020, the sheathing of the stay-cable system on the bridge to Russky Island covered with ice due to the freezing rain in Vladivostok. For some time, the bridge was closed to traffic, the stay cables of the bridge crossing were cleaned up. As a result of the elements of HDPE (high-density polyethylene) cable sheathings were partially deformed.
