Erection of bridge steel structures has been fully completed

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin (via videoconference call), Chairman of the Board of the State Company Avtodor Vyacheslav Petushenko, Governor of the Vladimir Region Alexander Avdeev, Minister of Transport and Highways of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Pavel Savateev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bamtonnelstroy-Most JSC Ruslan Baysarov took part in the official ceremony dedicated to the final bridge segment installation.

Prior to giving the command to complete the erection joint installation, Marat Khusnullin expressed his gratitude to the builders for the well-done good.

“The bridge across the Oka River of the 4th stage of M-12 Highway Construction Project is unique not only because it is the only cable-stayed bridge along the highway, but also because the cable-stayed system of the new bridge near Murom consists of the Russian components by more than a half. The bridge has become a testing facility that will allow to develop the Russian cable-stayed bridge construction technologies during the construction of future road facilities,” Vyacheslav Petushenko said. Thanks to technical solutions applied, it was built without 2.5 years. No bridge in the country has been built over such a period.

The bridge will connect the Vladimir Region with the Nizhny Novgorod Region near Murom joining together Central Federal District and Volga Federal District.

“The bridge crossing is 1.4 km long, the total weight of metal structures towards both directions is more than 6,500 tons,” Marat Khusnullin said.

“It is not merely the only cable-stayed bridge along the entire M-12 Highway, but it is also the first facility in the Russian bridge building history with pylons constructed by continuous concreting method using sliding formwork. The method applied by the Bamtonnelstroy-Most builders ensured high accuracy and good quality during concreting works,” Deputy General Director – Project Manager of Bamtonnelstroy-Most JSC Alexander Dmitrishin commented.

Bridge construction continues. As soon as in early June, once the concreting of the bridge roadway slab is completed, service lane will be provided. And by the end of the first summer month, the builders will lay the first asphalt concrete mixture onto the bridge across the Oka River.

As for all 124 km of the 4th stage of M-12 Highway from Murom to Arzamas, each kilometer will be paved with asphalt concrete mixture by August.

And as soon as in September of this year, it will take 2-3 hours to get to Vladimir and Murom from Moscow.
